- ROOT - HOW

3. HOW TO ROOT
There are many ways to ROOT. From what I could gather, the following are the most popular
a. Using CWM and Busybox : This is the least disruptive, and the most easiest and fastest. You simply install CWM, and then through it, install Busybox. That's it.... not so fast!
Ah, yes, first,  you need a PC and a proper set of drivers for the phone to be connected to the PC.

b. Using a preROOTED ROM : This is the most revolutionary, most time consuming, and also the most riskiest. In this case you are reinstalling the ENTIRE Android system anew.. The risks have a flipside, you don't really need a PC; and if you can't get the drivers for the phone, this is the only route available.

c. Using ANDROID SDK : This is for geeks who like commands and command lines. I bet you could make your Android phone do a Moonwalk (TM) this way.

DECIPHERER :
CWM : Short for CLOCK WORK MOD (google for more info about the tool and the group behind it). Simply put this is a replacement for the phone's initialisation routine, that kicks in AFTER you power on the phone and BEFORE ANDROID takes over. The original initialisation routine being quite limited functionally, CWM is needed for gaining better control over the initialisation process.

BUSYBOX : this is a tool that is installs the routines to gain ROOT access, basically adds the "su" to the available commands (google for more info about this tool and the people behind it).

ROM : Short for Read Only Memory - that part of the phone's memory that contains the Android system files that are "read only". In modder speak, though, ROM refers to the zip file which contains the Android system files in a compressed form. All Android phones have initialisation routines which are designed to recognise zip files containing the Android system and initiate the FLASHING / updating process.

ANDROID SDK : This is the way the developers do it. SDK being short for Software Development Kit. This requires some knowledge of commands, or atleast the use of commands.

FLASHING : This refers to the process of making changes to the ROM - this time the Read Only Memory of the phone and not the modder's ROM file. FLASHING is not just for modders, since this is also the route that is used to install latest updates released by the manufacturer.
